We can repair the permeations between your storage tanks’ primary containment and the outer wall, adding many years of in-service life to your installed storage tank. Our double wall tank repair and relining services have kept thousands of UST owners in operation and compliance. We have provided similar savings and peace of mind for thousands of facilities needing aboveground fuel tank lining, bolted steel tank repair and fiberglass tank lining.
In the 1960s, major oil companies like Esso / Exxon, Mobil, Shell and Arco started using tank lining to extend the useful life of their in service steel underground storage tanks (UST). From the later 1980s on, major oil refiners and petroleum distributors across the United States depended on the tank lining professionals at AmTech to help meet the requirements of the USEPA and state environmental agencies for UST corrosion protection using quality Poly Lining System’s PLS 360e® and Armor Shield® tank lining systems.
Today AmTech offers you cutting edge systems and materials like AmTech BiFlex and BiFlex HD, Poly Lining Systems 360e, and our new DK2 for the repair, rejuvenation and lining of single and double wall USTs. This work, performed while the tank is in the ground, allows rapid return to service and minimum disruption of your business operation.

Underground Storage Tank Repair
After excavation uncovers the tank top and liquid product is removed from the tank, our field crews will perform the following procedures to inspect, repair and line your underground storage tank.

Purging Vapor From Tank
Using large amounts of compressed air, fed through an eductor purging system, the environment inside the storage tank is brought to safe levels, allowing crew entry.

Accessing Tank Opening
If your tank does not have a factory installed manway, AmTech technicians will cut open the storage tank for safe interior access in compliance with OSHA Confined Space Standards.

De-Sludging Tank
Your storage tank is cleaned of all sludge and liquids. DOT approved barrels are used to safely store and remove the waste materials.

Tank Abrasive Blasting
Your tank then receives an abrasive blast to prepare the surface for inspection, repair and lining, and create a 3 to 5 mil profile.

Tank Inspection
The interior tank shell is then inspected for weak, leaking or permeated areas using methods from such national standards as API 1631 and NLPA 631. We provide you with a report outlining any steps needed to restore your tank to optimum service levels.

Tank Repair
Upon your approval, any weak, leaking or permeated areas detected during inspection of the tank which fall within allowable repair criteria for the storage tank are repaired in accordance with accepted industry practices.

Tank Coating
The entire tank interior is then spray coated with the appropriate Poly Lining System material to defer future corrosion and reduce sludge build-up.

Tank Lining Testing & Quality Control
Inspection and testing is conducted on your new interior tank lining using methods to insure uniform thickness, material hardness and absolute coverage.

Sealing Tank Access Opening
Once the storage tank interior work is completed, the access opening to your tank is sealed with a welded in place retrofit manway with a bolted removable cover.
